The Bad Bohemian…

I don’t make any claims to be a writer, or even to have a particularly firm control of grammar and spelling. These are merely thoughts I’ve had on various books from what could loosely be termed ‘World Literature’. They’re mostly books I’ve liked, as they’re the ones I feel like spending the time to review. The first dozen or so were initially posted on various Internet book forums.

Oh, and ‘Feeding the pigeons, one last time’ and ‘The Bad Bohemian’ are references to a couple of my favourite authors: Bohumil Hrabal and Jaroslav Hasek.

Regards,

The Bad Bohemian

  1. When I look at you drinking that good stuff, Pilsner no doubt, makes me want to pack my bag and go back to the old country for another visit. Hyrdlovka may not be there anymore due to the workings underground but Duhcov (wrong spelling of course) is not too far off. I was born in Hyrlovka in 1922. Shipped out to Canada in 1928. Have been back for a visit only once. Came close when I was over there doing my thing in the Canadian Army during the past war.

  2. Being a new-comer to the TV., I probably don’t know what I’m doing. I would do better if I had a drink of Pilsner. Visited there several years ago. Had my drink of that good stuff. Pilsner made in Canada is not quite the same – but it too is good. Have to go buy a case this afternoon. Getting kind of thirsty when writing about it.

  3. This being 22 of April, makes it only seven days before my birthday. I doubt very much anyone in Hyrdlovka will remember. Only great great grandparents remaining now. Karel, a cousin, same age as me may still be drinking that good stuff on occasion but he too is probably to tired to hoof it to the nearest hospoda.
